Clown Loach for large freshwater aquariums

Clown Loach, also known as Chromobotia macracanthus, is one of the most recognizable and attractive loach species in the aquarium hobby. Its bright orange body, dark vertical bands and active behavior make it a true eye catcher in a large freshwater aquarium. This species is not suitable for small aquariums, as it grows large and needs long term space, stable water quality and a proper group of its own kind.

The Clown Loach is a social bottom dwelling fish that should be kept in a group. When kept alone, it may become stressed and behave unnaturally. In a spacious aquarium with suitable hiding places, Clown Loaches are active, curious and show interesting group behavior while exploring the lower areas of the tank.

Recommended tank size: at least approx. 1000 l but 300cm length.
Temperature: 23–28 °C.
Adult size: approx. 50 cm.

Feeding

Diet: omnivore. Offer varied, species-appropriate food in several small portions a day for the best colour and condition.
