Goniopora Corals

Goniopora and Alveopora are highly sought-after LPS (Large Polyp Stony) corals that bring elegance and movement to reef aquariums. Their long, flowing polyps create a flower-like appearance that sways gently in the current, making them among the most captivating corals in the hobby.

While the two genera share a similar appearance, they can be distinguished by their polyp structure. Goniopora polyps typically feature 24 tentacles, whereas Alveopora polyps generally have 12. Both offer beautiful motion and striking visual impact within a reef display.

Thanks to modern reef-keeping knowledge and improved coral husbandry, both Goniopora and Alveopora can thrive in established reef aquariums with stable water parameters, moderate lighting, and gentle to moderate water flow.
