Acestrorhynchus falcatus is a striking South American predatory fish known for its streamlined body, impressive teeth and powerful hunting instincts. The Pará form is especially admired for its reddish tail coloration.

This species is an active open-water swimmer that requires plenty of swimming space. It is best maintained with similarly sized or larger tank mates, as smaller fish may be regarded as prey.
