Phractocephalus hemioliopterus, commonly known as the Redtail Catfish, is one of the most famous large catfish species from South America. It is recognised by its broad head, massive size and striking red tail.
This species grows rapidly and eventually requires an exceptionally large aquarium. Smaller fish may be viewed as prey, so tank mates should be selected carefully.
