Diversa OptiWhite Paludarium
The Diversa OptiWhite Paludarium is an elegant glass enclosure for creating displays inspired by the transition between water and land. It can be designed to resemble a tropical riverbank, wetland, swamp, or the humid floor of a rainforest.
A paludarium combines elements of an aquarium and a planted terrarium. A shallow water area can be created at the bottom, while rocks, wood, mosses, and terrestrial plants rise above the waterline. The open top provides freedom when positioning plants and allows taller growth above the glass walls.
The enclosure is made from OptiWhite glass with less green coloration than standard glass. Excellent transparency provides natural colour rendering and helps reveal the details of plants, water, rocks, and wood. Green mosses, red plants, and decorative roots are displayed particularly clearly.
Clear silicone complements the light and minimal appearance of the glass enclosure. The clean design is suitable for modern interiors, desks, shelves, windowside displays, and larger plant collections.
The Diversa OptiWhite Paludarium is suitable for aquatic plants and moisture loving terrestrial plants. It can be used for ferns, Java moss, other moss species, and selected carnivorous plants such as Venus flytraps when suitable growing conditions are provided.
Rocks, wood, bark, and different substrates can be used to create a layered landscape. The transition between water and land can be built with raised substrate, stable rock structures, or moisture resistant planting areas.
The substrate must be selected according to the plants. Tropical species benefit from a moisture retaining but well aerated growing medium. Carnivorous plants require a nutrient poor substrate suitable for the individual species. Standard heavily fertilised potting soil is generally unsuitable for sensitive bog plants and carnivorous species.
The open construction provides easy access for planting, trimming, misting, and regular maintenance. An open top also increases evaporation, so water level and humidity should be checked frequently. Evaporated water should be replaced with water suitable for the plants and aquatic section.
A small pump or filter can be installed when circulating water is included in the design. Gentle water movement helps reduce stagnant areas and supports a cleaner aquatic section. Equipment should remain accessible for maintenance and be positioned discreetly within the layout.
Choose plant lighting according to the species and the location of the paludarium. Suitable illumination supports healthy growth, intense colours, and dense vegetation. Carnivorous plants and many colourful species may require stronger lighting.
The Diversa OptiWhite Paludarium is available in two compact sizes. The smaller model is suitable for a desk or focused plant arrangement. The larger version provides more floor area for creating a detailed land and water landscape.

Setup and use
- Place the paludarium on a level, stable, and water resistant surface.
- Make sure the complete glass base is evenly supported.
- Inspect the glass and silicone seams.
- Plan the water and land areas.
- Build all raised sections securely.
- Add a substrate suitable for the selected plants.
- Position rocks and wood so that they cannot fall.
- Add correctly prepared water to the aquatic section.
- Install a small pump, filter, and plant light when required.
- Allow temperature and humidity to stabilize.
- Monitor water level, humidity, and plant condition.
- Remove dead leaves and decaying plant material regularly.
Suitability for animals must always be assessed according to the individual species. An open paludarium does not prevent escapes and may not provide the ventilation, temperature control, or humidity required by every animal.
