Hobby Filter sponge fine, blue 50 x 50 x 2 cm

The fine blue filter foam captures smaller particles that may pass through coarse prefilter material. Its open-cell structure also supports biological filtration by providing surface area for beneficial microorganisms.

The two-centimetre thickness is particularly useful in shallow filter chambers and layered filtration arrangements where installation space is limited. For the best water flow and service interval, the fine foam should normally be positioned after coarse filter material.

Directions

1. Measure the internal dimensions of the filter chamber.
2. Mark the required shape on the foam.
3. Cut the material with a long, sharp knife.
4. Make the piece slightly larger than the filter opening.
5. Rinse the new foam before use.
6. Install it without excessive compression.
7. Prevent water from bypassing the edges.
8. Position the fine foam after coarse filter material.
9. Check that water passes evenly through the foam.
10. Clean the material when water flow begins to decrease.
11. Rinse biologically established foam in removed aquarium water.
12. Replace the material when it becomes brittle, damaged or permanently compressed.
