Hobby Filter Sponge Coarse Black is a 50 × 50 × 3 cm coarse filter-foam sheet for mechanical and biological filtration in freshwater and marine aquariums. Its open 10 PPI structure captures coarse debris while maintaining good water flow. The washable and reusable sheet can be cut to fit internal filters, external filters, sump chambers, pump intakes and custom filtration systems.
The coarse black filter foam removes larger suspended particles before the water reaches finer filtration media. Its open-cell structure also provides colonisation area for beneficial microorganisms and supports biological filtration after maturation.
The three-centimetre thickness provides a practical balance between dirt-holding capacity, water permeability and compact installation. Its black colour remains discreet in visible filter compartments and around pump intakes.
