A discus is a slow feeder and takes its food from the water column and the bottom. A sinking granule holds together long enough for a slow fish to reach it – a flake would break up in the water first.

Protein is 43% and the food contains salmon, shrimp (12%), squid and krill. That matches the strongly animal-based natural diet of the species.

The natural astaxanthin from krill and spirulina supports the discus's colouring.
