Sera Rock Black Lava XXL 25-35 cm

Deep black lava rock for aquascaping. An XXL piece weighs 4.0–6.0 kg; the range also has an L size (0.8–1.8 kg).

Porosity is the point of this rock: lava is particularly porous, and filter bacteria settle in the pores and on the surface. The rock therefore takes part in the biological breakdown of pollutants rather than being only decoration.

A surface for plants: the structure suits epiphytes – the manufacturer names Java fern and Bucephalandra, which are attached to the rock rather than planted in the substrate.

What the XXL size makes possible: a single 4–6 kg piece is enough to form the main structure of a tank. The deep black rock gives a strong contrast to plants and fish, so their colours read more clearly. At the same time it provides shelter for shy and territorial fish, which reduces stress.
