A self-regulating heat mat for terrarium floor heating, rated 16 W, size 30 × 20 cm. Suits enclosures of about 110 to 150 l.

Reptiles and amphibians are cold-blooded and bask on sun-warmed surfaces in the wild. The heat mat provides the same conductive heat and creates a thermal gradient in the terrarium.

The heat is spread evenly across the mat, so no concentrated hotspots form – this is a safety matter, since a reptile can be burned by a locally overheating spot.

The technology is PTC carbon fibre: the mat warms up quickly, limits its own maximum temperature and has an automatic fail-safe. Electrothermal conversion efficiency exceeds 95%. The protection rating is IPX6.

The back of the mat is self-adhesive and bonds permanently to the terrarium floor – solid contact is what makes the heat transfer work. Rubber spacers are included.

The mat works around the clock as a primary or secondary heat source and is particularly useful as a night-time heat source for many species, because it emits no light. The manufacturer recommends combining the conductive heat of the mat with the radiant heat of a Basking Spot lamp.

Remember to leave ample cool areas so the animal can choose its temperature. The mat works with an Exo Terra thermostat.
