Anolis cristatellus, commonly known as the Puerto Rican Crested Anole, is a small arboreal lizard native to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The species is commonly observed on tree trunks, fences and other elevated structures where it actively hunts for prey during the day.

Adult males are recognised by their prominent throat fan and the characteristic crest at the base of the tail. These features are used during territorial and breeding displays.

A suitable enclosure should provide vertical climbing space, branches, live plants, UVB lighting and appropriate humidity levels. Naturalistic environments allow the species to display its active daytime behaviour.

The species feeds primarily on insects and other appropriately sized feeder animals. A varied diet combined with calcium and vitamin supplementation supports long-term health and wellbeing.

Its active nature and interesting behaviour make Anolis cristatellus a rewarding species for reptile enthusiasts.
