Tribolonotus gracilis (CB) is one of the most distinctive skinks in the reptile hobby. Its heavily keeled scales and vivid red-orange eye rings create a striking crocodile-like appearance.

Native to the humid forests of New Guinea, the species thrives in densely planted tropical terrariums with abundant cover and high humidity.

The species is generally shy and spends much of its time hidden among leaf litter, moss and vegetation. It is best appreciated as a display animal rather than a frequently handled pet.

A suitable enclosure should provide high humidity, natural décor, multiple hiding places and access to shallow water.

The diet consists primarily of insects and other appropriately sized feeder animals. A varied diet supports long-term health and wellbeing.

Captive-bred specimens are especially valued for their suitability to life in captivity and their appeal to dedicated reptile keepers.
