Sera Sponge Soft

A cleaning sponge for light dirt, with a lurex surface.

What it is for: removing thin algae layers and biofilm. Green deposits on the glass are a particular feature of the starting phase of a new tank; they are no problem for the animals but they spoil the view. Lime marks from splashes are a recurring nuisance in open aquariums too.

Where the fibre arrangement comes from: the layout of the lurex fibres follows a natural model – the radula, the rasping tongue with which snails graze algae off glass and decoration. The same principle lifts the growth without scratching the glass.

How it differs from the Sponge Hard: the Soft is soft and flexible, so it adapts to surfaces and reaches into corners at low pressure. Stubborn spot algae and limescale need the steel wool faced Sponge Hard of the range.

Which surfaces: glass and other hard, smooth surfaces. The manufacturer states the sponge as durable.
