A rearing container for fry, 2.5 litres in volume.

Why the volume is the number that matters: the manufacturer justifies the size by saying that 2.5 litres gives the fry a large swimming space, and that this is essential for rapid and healthy growth. In a small, cramped box fry grow more slowly.

As a spawning box too: with a small quantity of sera biofibres added, the container also works well for spawning – eggs that fall into the fibre are out of reach of the parent fish.
