How it differs from the other model in the range: the manufacturer lists two sera thermometers: this Precision Thermometer and the Stick-On LCD that sticks to the glass. The Precision sits in the water, so it measures the temperature of the water rather than of the glass.

What follows from that: the reading is the one the fish experience. It is worth placing the thermometer well away from the heater, preferably at the opposite end of the tank – the reading then tells you whether the heat has circulated through the whole tank or only around the heater.

Mounting: by suction cup. The rubber hardens in water over time; sera sells suction cup holders separately in three sizes (12, 16 and 18 mm).

Where it is used: according to the manufacturer's classification, freshwater and marine aquariums as well as terrariums.
