Diversa Polyethylene Aquarium Mat

The Diversa Polyethylene Aquarium Mat creates a protective layer between the aquarium base and the supporting surface. It helps compensate for small imperfections and prevents individual grains of sand or other hard particles from creating concentrated pressure points beneath the aquarium.

A filled aquarium places a substantial load on its supporting furniture. The total operating weight includes the glass tank, water, substrate, rock, wood, equipment, and decoration. A suitable aquarium mat helps distribute this load evenly across the supported base.

Protects the bottom glass

Small particles, dried adhesive, raised screw heads, or other minor imperfections may cause localized pressure beneath an aquarium. The flexible polyethylene material adapts to small surface variations and reduces point-loading risk.

The mat does not compensate for an uneven floor, twisted cabinet, bowed top panel, damaged furniture, or insufficient structural support.

Full-bottom installation

Install the mat beneath the entire aquarium base. The material must lie flat without folds, overlaps, or trapped particles.

Select the mat according to the external dimensions of the aquarium base. A larger mat can be trimmed carefully with a sharp knife and straight cutting guide.

Always follow the aquarium manufacturer’s instructions. Framed aquariums may transfer their weight through the bottom frame and may not require a full-bottom mat.

Moisture-resistant polyethylene

Polyethylene is lightweight, flexible, and resistant to moisture. Its closed structure is well suited to aquarium installations where occasional splashes may occur.

Water around the mat and cabinet edges should still be wiped away promptly to protect the aquarium furniture.

Selecting the size

Choose the mat according to the external width and depth of the aquarium base. Confirm the aquarium construction and manufacturer’s installation instructions before use.

Installation

1. Empty and clean the cabinet top.
2. Check that the cabinet is stable and load-bearing.
3. Verify that the surface is level.
4. Remove dust, sand, and hard particles.
5. Position the mat flat on the cabinet.
6. Trim it to the aquarium dimensions when required.
7. Remove all folds and overlapping sections.
8. Place the empty aquarium on the mat.
9. Centre the aquarium carefully.
10. Confirm full and even support.
11. Fill the aquarium only after checking the installation.
12. Never move a filled aquarium across the mat.
13. Wipe away water splashes promptly.
