Medium foam is the only middle grade of the range.
It answers a common difficulty in a small filter: there is room for one layer or two only, so a coarse stage and a fine one cannot be told apart. PPI 20 does both moderately – it holds dirt enough and lets water enough through.
A compromise is seldom the best answer, but in a cramped filter it is often the only one that works.
Cut the piece to the chamber and renew it yearly.
