Exoterra rain metsä substrate 8.8L

A bark and sphagnum moss mixture for rainforest terrariums, 8.8 l. Maritime pine (Pinus pinaster, Portugal) and sphagnum moss (Sphagnum magellanicum, Chile), made in the EU.

The mixture regulates terrarium humidity by itself: the bark takes up water and releases it slowly back into the air. The sphagnum moss amplifies this considerably, as it holds several times more water than bark. Steady humidity helps with shedding.

The size and shape of the bark particles together with the moss allow frequent watering of the plants while the roots still get air. The mixture therefore suits a planted terrarium.

The material is heat-treated to reduce bacterial contamination and it absorbs odour.

Use: spread a 5 to 10 cm layer on the terrarium floor. Water or mist according to the humidity your species requires and follow it with a hygrometer. If the terrarium is well ventilated or the humidity requirement is very high, place a substrate heater underneath. Spot clean daily.
