Exoterra plantation soil 8.8L trooppinen substraatti
A coconut fibre substrate for terrariums, 8.8 l (one compressed brick). Ground coconut husk fibre (Cocos nucifera, Vietnam), 100% natural and biodegradable.
Coconut fibre holds an exceptional amount of water for its weight and gives it up slowly, so humidity stays high without constant misting.
The material is safe for frogs, salamanders and other burrowing animals.
The fibre is triple machine washed to remove residual salt, then machine dried and heat-treated to reduce bacterial contamination. Removing the salt matters: coconut fibre naturally contains sea salt, which would harm plants and animals.
The grain size ranges from coarse granules to fine clumps, which improves drainage and aeration. An aerated substrate sustains the waste-reducing organisms that keep a terrarium fresher.
The material is free of chemicals and pesticides and can be composted. It is very resistant to mould and decay. Because it is hygroscopic it can also be used as an incubation medium for eggs.
Use: place the brick in a 10 litre bucket and add about 3 litres of water. Let it soak for about 30 minutes until the water is fully absorbed and no clumps remain. Stir so that no compressed parts are left. Spread a 5 to 10 cm layer on the terrarium floor.
Care: spot clean daily and replace the substrate completely when necessary. Humidity is adjusted by watering or misting and followed with a hygrometer.
