Dupla Ground nature River Pebbles 5 kg, 0-16 mm

Natural stone for the freshwater aquarium and the terrarium. River Pebbles is river stone from sand to palm-sized, grain size 0-16 mm, pack 5 kg.

A decorative stone, not a growing medium: stones this size leave so much space between them that they do not work as a rooting medium or as the only substrate. The use is landscaping: territory boundaries, rock piles, stream beds and accents laid over a finer bed.

A natural product: this is natural stone and it is not dyed. The manufacturer notes that natural stone may contain traces of lime: if the tank water is meant to stay soft, test a sample before use (put a handful in water and follow the carbonate hardness for a few days).

How much is needed: the manufacturer's formula is tank length (cm) × width (cm) ÷ 140 = kilos for a five centimetre layer. This 5 kg pack therefore covers about 700 cm² of floor area at 5 cm. For example, a 5 cm layer in a 100 × 40 cm tank takes about 28.6 kg.

Setting up: rinse with cold water before use – transport creates fine dust that would otherwise cloud the water. The recommended layer is 5–8 cm depending on the planting.
