Sera spare sponge for L 60 varaosa

A replacement sponge for the sera internal filter L 60 internal filter, one piece.

What it fits: the air operated sponge filter sera internal filter L 60. In that filter the sponge is not one part among many but effectively the whole filter: the unit has no motor and no media baskets, and the water lifted by air bubbles passes through the sponge.

Why the sponge is the most important part of the filter: it handles both the mechanical and the biological filtration. Coarse dirt stays on its surface, and nitrifying bacteria settle in its pores and break down ammonium and nitrite.

In use: rinse the sponge in aquarium water, not under the tap – chlorine kills the bacteria and the biological side of the filtration starts over. Replace it only when it no longer springs back after being squeezed, or when it has torn.
