Tropic Marin Sea Salt Classic

Tropic Marin Sea Salt Classic is a premium salt mix for preparing seawater for marine aquariums. It is suitable for starting a new aquarium, performing regular water changes, and restoring balanced pH and mineral conditions.

The salt is produced from pharmaceutical-grade raw materials under strict quality control. Its pure formula dissolves rapidly and clearly and contains no artificial additives or synthetic binding agents.

Sea Salt Classic provides the important major and minor elements found in tropical seawater, including calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, chloride, and sulphur. It also contains approximately 70 trace elements in natural proportions.

A balanced bicarbonate concentration helps stabilize pH and alkalinity. Correctly prepared saltwater provides an alkalinity of approximately 9–10 °dKH, making the formula particularly suitable for fish-focused marine aquariums and systems with increased alkalinity consumption.

Sea Salt Classic can also be used in many coral and mixed reef aquariums. Its alkalinity is higher than that of Tropic Marin Pro-Reef. Pro-Reef may therefore be more suitable when a sensitive reef aquarium is deliberately maintained at approximately 7–8 °dKH.

The balanced formula is an excellent choice for marine aquariums containing fish, soft corals, anemones, crustaceans, molluscs, and other invertebrates. It also provides a reliable general-purpose salt for new marine aquarium installations.

Prepared seawater can be used once the salt has dissolved completely, the water is clear, and temperature and salinity match the aquarium. Correctly prepared saltwater can be stored for several weeks in a clean, closed container.

Mixing and use

To reach a salinity of 32–35 PSU, use approximately 37–40 grams of Tropic Marin Sea Salt Classic per litre of water. Always verify the final salinity using a calibrated refractometer or another suitable marine salinity instrument.

1. Fill a clean mixing container with reverse-osmosis water.
2. Start a circulation pump.
3. Adjust the water temperature to approximately 23–25 °C.
4. Add the salt gradually to the circulating water.
5. Always add salt to water, never water to concentrated dry salt.
6. Avoid preparing a concentrated solution in a small amount of water.
7. Mix until the salt is fully dissolved and the water is clear.
8. Measure salinity with a calibrated refractometer.
9. Adjust with small amounts of salt or reverse-osmosis water.
10. Match the temperature and salinity to the aquarium.
11. Use the prepared seawater only after all values are stable.

The recommended specific gravity is approximately 1.025–1.027 at 25 °C. Never add dry salt directly to an aquarium containing fish, corals, or other animals.
