Tropic Marin Bio-Actif Sea Salt is a premium reef salt combining balanced mineral concentrations with prebiotic support for aquarium microbiology. It is suitable for starting new marine aquariums, regular water changes, introducing new livestock, and long-term reef maintenance.

The salt is manufactured from pharmaceutical-grade raw materials. It supplies the essential major and minor elements of tropical seawater together with approximately 70 trace elements in natural proportions

Bio-Actif Sea Salt contains natural marine biopolymers and prebiotic substances that support beneficial aquarium bacteria. A stable microbial community contributes to the processing of organic compounds, supports low-nutrient conditions, and helps maintain balanced reef aquarium biology.

The optimized nutrient environment supports natural SPS and LPS coral coloration, skeletal development, and the formation of stronger tissue. Bioactive ingredients also help maintain suitable conditions for sensitive reef organisms.

Marine fish benefit from stable water quality and bioactive substances that support the natural protective mucus layer. This surface layer provides an important barrier between the fish and environmental irritation.

Bio-Actif Sea Salt provides calcium and magnesium concentrations optimized for reef aquariums. These minerals are essential for the growth of stony corals, coralline algae, clams, and other calcifying organisms. Its alkalinity of approximately 8–9 °dKH provides stable buffering for many reef systems.

The salt is suitable for SPS, LPS, soft corals, anemones, clams, crustaceans, marine algae, and sensitive marine fish. It can be used continuously as part of a regular water-change routine.

  • Starting a new reef aquarium
  • Regular partial water changes
  • SPS-dominated reef aquariums
  • LPS-dominated reef aquariums
  • Soft coral and mixed reefs
  • Low-nutrient marine systems

  • Sensitive marine fish and invertebrates
  • Systems containing marine and coralline algae

Mixing and use

To achieve a salinity of 32–35 PSU, use approximately 37–40 grams of Tropic Marin Bio-Actif Sea Salt per litre of water. The exact final salinity must always be verified using a calibrated refractometer or another suitable marine salinity instrument.

  1. Fill a clean mixing container with reverse-osmosis water.
  2. Start a circulation pump.
  3. Adjust the water close to the aquarium temperature.
  4. Add the salt gradually to the circulating water.
  5. Always add salt to water, not water to concentrated dry salt.
  6. Avoid producing a highly concentrated mixture.
  7. Mix until the salt is completely dissolved.
  8. Measure salinity with a calibrated refractometer.
  9. Adjust with small quantities of salt or reverse-osmosis water.
  10. Match the new water temperature and salinity to the aquarium.
  11. Use the water only after all values are stable.
  12. Never add dry salt directly to an aquarium containing animals.
