Tropic Marin Pro-Reef Sea Salt is a pharmaceutical-grade marine salt developed for modern reef aquariums. Optimized calcium and magnesium concentrations support coral growth, while a natural alkalinity of approximately 7–8 °dKH makes the formula particularly suitable for systems using calcium reactors, Balling supplementation, or other regular mineral dosing methods.

Tropic Marin Pro-Reef Sea Salt is a premium salt mix for preparing seawater for modern marine and reef aquariums. It is suitable for starting a new aquarium, performing regular water changes, and restoring balanced pH and mineral conditions.

The formula provides optimized calcium and magnesium concentrations for stony corals, coralline algae, clams, and other calcifying reef organisms. Its carefully adjusted buffering system maintains alkalinity within the natural seawater range of approximately 7–8 °dKH.

This moderate alkalinity makes Pro-Reef particularly suitable for SPS and LPS aquariums using controlled supplementation. Water changes can be performed without unnecessarily increasing alkalinity or disrupting the values maintained by a dosing system.

The salt contains all essential major, minor, and approximately 70 trace elements found in tropical seawater. These elements are balanced in natural proportions and remain fully available when the salt is mixed correctly.

Pharmaceutical-grade raw materials and careful manufacturing provide rapid, clear dissolution. The salt contains no synthetic binding agents and produces clean seawater without unnecessary residue when prepared according to the instructions.

Tropic Marin Pro-Reef is suitable for SPS corals, LPS corals, soft corals, anemones, clams, crustaceans, sensitive marine fish, and mixed reef aquariums. It is ideal for systems using a calcium reactor, kalkwasser, All-For-Reef, or Balling supplementation.

Mixing and use

To achieve a salinity of approximately 32–35 PSU, use around 37–40 grams of Tropic Marin Pro-Reef Sea Salt per litre of water. Always verify the final salinity with a calibrated refractometer.

  1. Fill a clean mixing container with reverse-osmosis water.
  2. Start a circulation pump.
  3. Adjust the water close to the aquarium temperature.
  4. Add the salt gradually to the circulating water.
  5. Never pour water onto a concentrated quantity of dry salt.
  6. Mix until the salt is completely dissolved and the water is clear.
  7. Measure salinity with a calibrated refractometer.
  8. Adjust with small amounts of salt or reverse-osmosis water.
  9. Match the temperature to the aquarium.
  10. Use the prepared seawater only after all values are stable.

The recommended specific gravity is approximately 1.025–1.027 at 25 °C. Never add dry salt directly to an aquarium containing fish, corals, or other animals.
