Tunze DOC Skimmer 9410

Tunze DOC Skimmer 9410 is a sump-mounted protein skimmer designed to control dissolved organic waste in marine aquariums. Fine air bubbles attract proteins, fats, and other organic compounds and transport them into the removable collection cup.

Removing organic material before decomposition helps limit nitrate and phosphate formation while supporting clear, oxygen-rich water.

The skimmer is suitable for fish systems, soft coral aquariums, LPS reefs, mixed reefs, and appropriately sized SPS aquariums. Practical capacity depends on fish stocking, feeding, coral sensitivity, and additional nutrient-export methods.

Efficient air and water performance

Air performance is approximately 600 l/h, while water flow is approximately 900 l/h. The extensive contact between air and water supports effective organic-waste removal.

Power consumption is approximately 15 W, making the skimmer suitable for economical continuous operation.

Overflow management

The skimmer construction helps manage sudden excessive foam production caused by water conditioners, coral adhesives, additives, new filter media, and changes in surface tension.

Operation should still be monitored closely during initial use and after adding aquarium treatments.

Post-filter and collection cup

A removable post-filter captures fine suspended particles and helps reduce microbubbles returning to the display aquarium.

The collection cup has a capacity of approximately 0.7 litres. Clean the cup neck and foam riser regularly to maintain performance.

Installation and maintenance

1. Reserve at least 250 × 180 mm of sump floor space.
2. Allow additional space for the post-filter.
3. Leave sufficient vertical clearance for maintenance.
4. Install the skimmer in a chamber with a stable water level.
5. Set the immersion depth between 140 and 240 mm.
6. Install the pump and post-filter.
7. Keep the intake and outlet unobstructed.
8. Position electrical connections in a dry location.
9. Create a drip loop in the power cable.
10. Start the skimmer and monitor foam production.
11. Allow a running-in period before final adjustment.
12. Monitor the collection cup during initial operation.
13. Clean the cup, post-filter, and air intake regularly.
14. Disconnect the equipment before maintenance.
