Sicce WHALE 120 is a compact external canister filter designed for mechanical, biological, and chemical aquarium filtration. Its space efficient design provides useful filtration capacity while allowing the filter to be installed neatly inside an aquarium cabinet or another suitable location below the tank.

The filter delivers a maximum flow rate of 540 litres per hour with a power consumption of only 5 watts. This combination provides efficient water circulation with low operating costs. WHALE 120 combines three types of filtration in one unit. Mechanical media capture visible debris, plant residue, and suspended particles. Biological media provide surface area for beneficial bacteria involved in the aquarium nitrogen cycle. Chemical media can be added when required to clarify the water or remove selected impurities.

Separate media baskets make it easy to organize filtration materials according to the needs of the aquarium. Mechanical, biological, and chemical media can be arranged to create a customized filtration system. The floating basket design simplifies removal during maintenance and helps reduce contact with the water inside the filter.

The practical priming system helps fill the filter and hoses before operation. It can be suspended directly on the aquarium, making startup easier without manually drawing water through the hose. Once the filter and hoses are filled, the unit can be connected to the electrical supply.

Installation and maintenance

Place the Sicce WHALE 120 on a stable and dry surface below the aquarium. Install the inlet and outlet pipes in the aquarium and connect the hoses according to the markings on the filter. Keep the hoses as straight as possible and avoid sharp bends or restrictions.

Fill the filter using the priming system before connecting it to the electrical supply. Check every connection and ensure that there are no leaks. Start the filter only after the canister and hoses have filled with water.

Adjust the flow using the control on the outlet fitting. A stronger flow may be suitable for species that prefer active water movement, while a reduced flow can be used for fish and other animals that require calmer conditions.

Disconnect the filter from the electrical supply before maintenance. Close the hose unit valves before separating the canister from the tubing. Rinse mechanical media regularly and replace them when necessary. Biological media should be rinsed gently in water removed from the aquarium to preserve as much beneficial bacteria as possible.

Do not replace all biological filtration media at the same time. Inspect the impeller, impeller chamber, hoses, seals, and connectors during maintenance. Regular cleaning helps maintain efficient water flow and quiet operation.
