Pink Toe Tarantula M-L arboreal tarantula for vertical terrariums

Pink Toe Tarantula M-L is an arboreal tarantula known for its attractive appearance, climbing behavior and pinkish toe tips. Pink Toe tarantulas are commonly associated with the Avicularia group and do best in a tall terrarium with vertical climbing surfaces, cork bark, branches, plants and sheltered webbing areas.

This is not a ground dwelling burrowing tarantula. Instead, it spends much of its time above the ground and builds web retreats in the upper parts of the enclosure. For this reason, height, ventilation and stable climbing structures are more important than a large floor area. An M-L sized individual already needs enough space to climb, move and build a secure web retreat.

Recommended enclosure

The Pink Toe Tarantula should be kept in a taller terrarium with good cross ventilation and plenty of climbing structures. Cork bark tubes, upright branches, artificial or live plants and secure webbing areas help create a suitable environment. The enclosure must be escape proof because arboreal tarantulas can move quickly and climb efficiently.

Who is this species for?

This species is suitable for terrarium keepers who want an attractive arboreal tarantula and are ready to provide correct ventilation, a secure enclosure and calm maintenance routines. It can be a suitable first arboreal tarantula for a keeper who has researched tree dwelling tarantula care beforehand.

Conditions and care

For Pink Toe tarantulas, the combination of suitable humidity and excellent airflow is especially important. The enclosure should not be wet or stagnant. Coconut fiber or another suitable terrarium substrate can be added at the bottom to help stabilize moisture, but the main living area should be constructed vertically.

Feeding

Pink Toe Tarantulas eat live insects such as crickets, roaches and other appropriately sized feeder insects. Prey should be suitable for the size of the tarantula. Uneaten prey should be removed from the enclosure to avoid stress and to prevent problems during molting.

Handling and safety

A tarantula is primarily an observation animal, not a handling pet. Pink Toe tarantulas can move quickly and may jump when startled, so handling is not recommended. A fall can seriously injure the animal. Feeding, enclosure opening and maintenance should be done calmly and carefully.

Important before purchase

This is a live animal, and availability, size, sex and individual behavior may vary. Before purchase, make sure the enclosure is ready, conditions are suitable and feeder insects are available. If the exact scientific species is important, confirm the precise species name of the individual before purchase.
