The coarse blue filter foam provides combined mechanical and biological filtration. It captures larger suspended particles before they enter finer filter media while maintaining good water flow.

The large sheet can be cut into one custom filter block or several smaller replacement pieces. It is suitable for internal and external filters, sump chambers, prefilters, pump intakes and custom-built filtration systems.

Directions

1. Measure the internal dimensions of the filter chamber.
2. Mark the required shape on the foam.
3. Cut with a long, sharp knife.
4. Make the piece slightly larger than the opening to prevent water bypass.
5. Rinse the new foam before use.
6. Install it before finer mechanical media in the direction of water flow.
7. Check that water passes evenly through the foam.
8. Clean the material when flow begins to decrease.
9. Rinse established biological foam in removed aquarium water.
10. Replace the foam when it becomes brittle, damaged or permanently compressed.
