Chihiros Double Tap 17 mm 16/22 mm

The Chihiros Double Tap is installed in a 16/22 mm canister-filter hose. Closing both integrated valves isolates the hose on either side of the quick coupling, allowing a filter, inline heater, CO₂ reactor, UV unit, or other component to be disconnected without draining the complete hose circuit.

The 17 mm version has equal-sized connections at both ends and is designed specifically for tubing with an approximate internal diameter of 16 mm and external diameter of 22 mm.

Installation

1. Disconnect the canister filter and inline electrical devices from power.
2. Close the filter’s existing valves.
3. Select a straight, accessible section of 16/22 mm tubing.
4. Protect the cabinet and floor from residual water.
5. Cut the tubing squarely with a sharp hose cutter.
6. Push both hose ends fully onto the Double Tap connections.
7. Tighten the hose fittings evenly by hand.
8. Check the position and condition of the O-rings.
9. Connect and lock the central quick coupling.
10. Open the Double Tap valves.
11. Open the filter valves and start the filter.
12. Remove trapped air from the hose circuit.
13. Check every connection carefully for leaks.
14. Recheck the dry exterior after several hours.
