The insects are cooked in the can. Cooking preserves the nutritional value, flavour and aroma, softens the exoskeleton and breaks the bonds in the collagen so that the protein is absorbed better. Collagen is an important fibre in building bone, cartilage, skin and claws.

Canned insects have the same nutritional value as live insects but are easier to digest. Canned food is also easy to store and does not require keeping live insects.

Use: discard any uneaten portion after 24 hours. Refrigerate after opening. Best before date, batch code and registration number are on the base of the can.

Feeding: a few grasshoppers as part of the diet, or as a treat 2 to 3 times a week.

Composition: grasshoppers (Phymateus saxosus). Analytical constituents: protein 20.3%, fat 1.6%, moisture 74.7%. A feed material for reptiles.
