Sera siporax Nitrate-minus Professional E

A biological filter medium for nitrate removal. Pack 500 ml (145 g), sufficient according to the manufacturer for 150 litres. The dosage is one sphere per 15 litres of water.

How it differs from ordinary siporax: a bio polymer sphere is matched to the siporax ring. The sphere is made of degradable bio polymer and serves as a carbon source for the bacteria that break down nitrate. Without a carbon source denitrification does not get going properly – that is precisely what sets this product apart.

Two effects: the sphere maximises the biological filter performance of the sintered glass and at the same time improves the flow so that substances travel better into the inner part of the ring. Alongside nitrate, nitrite and ammonium are broken down too.

Where it pays off: in large and densely stocked community or cichlid tanks where nitrate climbs quickly. The number of water changes can be reduced.

Combinable: the medium can be used together with siporax products already in place (siporax Professional, mini Professional, pond Professional). By providing carbon it improves the breakdown in those as well.

Note: in dedicated plant tanks or densely planted aquariums this medium can make NPK fertilisation necessary. The spheres are broken down by bacteria over time and dissolve; the carbon source is renewed by replacing them.
