Sera Super Carbon 1000 g

Activated carbon for the aquarium filter, 1 000 g. Sufficient, according to the manufacturer, for 2 000 litres. This is the largest pack in the range; the smaller ones are 29 g (60 l) and 250 g (500 l).

The main use: after a course of medication. Once the treatment is over, the remainders have to be removed as quickly and as completely as possible. Otherwise the water stays needlessly loaded and the residue becomes a new stress factor for the fish.

How it works: the activated carbon binds the residues quickly and without side effects, and it does not change the pH. Bound in the carbon pellets, substances that may be harmful to the environment can be disposed of with ordinary household waste.

Other uses: an acute case of intoxication, for example when renovation work, an unsuitable decoration item or an overdose is suspected of having brought pollutants into the tank. The carbon also removes unwanted tints from the water.

Phosphate free: the manufacturer states the carbon as phosphate free. That is a meaningful difference from many cheap activated carbons, which release phosphate into the water and so feed algae at exactly the moment the balance of the tank is already disturbed.
