The tone of the background affects how the fish look. Many species pale against a light background and darken against a dark one – a natural means of protection by which a fish blends into its surroundings.

In practice, then, a dark background makes the colours of most fish show stronger than a light one.

The poster is double-sided, so the tone can be tried by turning it before the final choice is made.

Fixing is done on the back glass from outside the tank.
