Tunze DOC Skimmer 9430

Tunze DOC Skimmer 9430 is a high-capacity protein skimmer for demanding marine and reef aquarium systems. It removes dissolved organic compounds before they break down into nitrate and phosphate while supporting effective gas exchange and oxygenation.

The skimmer is designed for aquarium systems from 700 to 3,500 litres. Practical maximum capacity depends on fish population, feeding, coral sensitivity, and additional nutrient-export methods.

DOC Skimmer 9430 is installed inside a sump and is supplied ready for installation.

Magnetically supported shaftless pump

The pump uses magnetic bearings to minimize friction, vibration, and operating noise. Smooth performance makes the skimmer suitable for living areas and other noise-sensitive environments.

There is no conventional ceramic or metal shaft. The shaftless construction eliminates a common wear point and supports consistent long-term performance.

There are no metal components in the water-contact area, providing reliable long-term use in seawater.

Effective organic-waste removal

Fine air bubbles attract proteins, fats, and other dissolved organic compounds. These substances are transported through the reaction chamber and into the collection cup.

Air intake is approximately 2,000 l/h. The extensive air-to-water contact area supports effective treatment in heavily stocked and intensively fed systems.

Hydraulically balanced water level

The internal water level is controlled by a hydraulically tuned system without conventional adjustment valves or moving regulating parts.

Once correctly set, the skimmer maintains stable long-term operation with minimal need for repeated adjustment.

Flexible immersion depth

The suitable immersion depth is 10–24 cm, with an optimal water level of approximately 15 cm.

If the sump water level is higher, install the skimmer on a stable, seawater-resistant platform.

Two-litre collection cup

The two-litre collection cup provides ample capacity for a high-performance skimmer. Clean the cup neck and foam riser regularly to maintain efficient foam movement.

Recommended maximum aquarium volumes:

• SPS-dominated reef aquariums: approximately 2,000 litres
• LPS and mixed reef aquariums: approximately 2,800 litres
• Fish systems and easy-care corals: approximately 3,500 litres

Installation and setup

1. Reserve at least 36 × 36 cm of sump floor space.
2. Provide at least approximately 60 cm of total vertical space.
3. Position the skimmer on a stable, level base.
4. Set the immersion depth between 10 and 24 cm.
5. Use an operating water level of approximately 15 cm when possible.
6. Install the pump and components according to the instructions.
7. Keep the water intake and outlet unobstructed.
8. Position the power supply in a dry location.
9. Create a drip loop in the power cable.
10. Start the skimmer and observe foam production.
11. Allow a running-in period before final adjustment.
12. Monitor the collection cup closely during initial operation.
13. Clean the cup and foam riser regularly.
14. Maintain the pump and air intake according to the instructions.
15. Disconnect the equipment before maintenance.
