Exoterra termostaatti 300W dimming and pulse

A dimming and pulse proportional thermostat for terrarium heating, for heating devices up to 300 W. Range 18 to 38 °C.

How dimming differs from on-off control: a conventional thermostat switches the power off completely, so the temperature swings around the setpoint. A dimming thermostat instead adjusts the current sent to the heater smoothly: at start-up the current rises gradually, and as the setpoint is approached the current is dimmed back. The temperature therefore holds much more steadily.

A red LED lights while the heater is powered; once the setpoint is reached the LED turns blue.

A heat mat, heat cable, ceramic heater or incandescent heat bulb can be connected. The dial is recessed, so the setting does not change by accident. The sensor is waterproof and stands up to humid terrariums and water.

Note on light sources: dimming is used with a visible-light heater during the day only – a dimmed incandescent bulb would flicker and light the terrarium at night. Round-the-clock heating is built with a heat source that emits no light (heat mat, heat cable, ceramic heater, infrared basking spot or night heat lamp).
