Sera Phosvec Granulat 500 g

A filter medium that removes phosphate from the water permanently. According to the manufacturer the 500 gram pack binds 12,500 mg of phosphate.

Why phosphate is removed: phosphate is an important plant nutrient, but only small amounts are needed. An oversupply creates algae problems.

How the medium works: the granulate binds phosphate in the filter and stays active for up to three months, depending on the size of the tank and the load on the water. It is a long-acting medium rather than a one-off treatment.

What it suits: both freshwater and marine filtration.
