Sera filter sponge, black for 300 (SE32655)

Black filter sponge for the sera X-Edge corner filter, two pieces per pack.

What it fits: the sera X-Edge 300 corner filter. The range has three sizes and this part belongs to the 300 specifically – the filters deliver 300 l/h and draw 4,2 W, so the bodies and their parts differ in size and are not interchangeable.

What it does: the X-Edge filters mechanically with a filter mat and a filter sponge that stop dirt before it reaches the biological medium. The sponge is the coarser and more durable of the two: it takes the bulk of the dirt and protects the siporax mini Professional medium in the filter basket from clogging.

In use: the sponge is not disposable. Rinse it in aquarium water, not under the tap, because the bacteria growing on it are part of the filtration. Replace it only once it no longer springs back after being squeezed. A pack of two lasts well until then.

sera's design also considers animal safety: the filter media sit tightly in place so that young shrimps cannot crawl inside the filter. That is a reason to use the part made for this model rather than cutting a sponge to size yourself.
