Salifert Organics profi test

The Salifert Organics Profi Test provides a relative indication of aquarium-water contamination by various organic compounds. It does not identify or quantify one specific molecule in mg/l or ppm.

Two identical water samples are used. One remains untreated as a visual control, while Org-1 and Org-2 reagents are added to the second sample. The number of Org-2 drops required to produce a faint-yellow colour indicates the degree of organic pollution.

Directions

1. Add 4 ml of aquarium water to each test vial.
2. Place one vial on the left as the untreated control.
3. Place the second vial on the right.
4. Add three drops of Org-1 to the right-hand vial.
5. Swirl for five seconds.
6. Allow the sample to stand for at least 15 minutes.
7. Add one drop of Org-2.
8. Swirl for ten seconds and wait 20 seconds.
9. Hold both vials against a white background.
10. If the treated sample has not become faint yellow, add another Org-2 drop.
11. Swirl for ten seconds after every additional drop.
12. Continue until the faint-yellow endpoint is reached.
13. Count the total number of Org-2 drops.
14. Interpret the result using the chart supplied with the kit.
15. Rinse all test equipment after use.
