Hanna Marine Salinity Tester HI98319 is a digital salinity and temperature meter designed specifically for marine and reef aquariums. It determines salinity from electrical conductivity and displays the result in parts per thousand, Practical Salinity Units or specific gravity. Automatic temperature compensation, a fast exposed temperature sensor and automatic recognition of the 35.00 ppt calibration standard provide fast and repeatable aquarium measurements. The waterproof enclosure is designed to float.
HI98319 measures the conductivity of natural and artificial seawater using an amperometric graphite sensor. The instrument converts the conductivity measurement into the selected salinity unit and simultaneously displays water temperature.
The graphite sensor reduces polarisation effects and does not oxidise like metallic sensing pins. An exposed temperature sensor provides fast response, while automatic temperature compensation accounts for conductivity changes caused by water temperature.

Directions
- Calibrate the tester with fresh 35.00 ppt calibration standard.
- Rinse the sensor with a small amount of the water to be measured.
- Switch on the tester and select ppt, PSU or S.G.
- Immerse the sensor to the correct depth.
- Move the tester gently to release trapped air bubbles.
- Wait for the temperature and salinity reading to stabilise.
- Record the result after the stability indicator appears.
- Rinse the sensor with clean water immediately after use.
- Do not allow saltwater to dry on the graphite sensor.
- Replace the protective cap and store the tester in its case.
