Salifert Ammonia profi test

Ammonia and ammonium are produced through animal metabolism and the decomposition of organic waste. In a properly functioning aquarium, biological filtration converts these compounds into nitrite and then nitrate.

Detectable total ammonia may indicate an immature aquarium, excessive biological loading, damaged filtration, decaying organic material or insufficient oxygen for nitrifying bacteria.

Directions

1. Add 2 ml of water to the test vial.
2. Fill the 1 ml syringe with NH3 reagent.
3. Add 0.5 ml of reagent to the vial.
4. Swirl gently for 30 seconds.
5. Add the remaining 0.5 ml.
6. Swirl gently for ten seconds.
7. Allow the sample to stand for five minutes.
8. Swirl gently for another five seconds.
9. Hold the white section of the colour chart behind the vial.
10. View the sample through the side of the vial.
11. Read the total-ammonia concentration in mg/l.
12. Rinse all measuring equipment after use.
