Salifert Phosphate PO4 profi test

Phosphate is an essential nutrient, but excessive accumulation may promote unwanted algae and interfere with the mineral growth of stony corals and calcareous algae. Extremely low phosphate can also limit the nutrition of corals and aquarium microorganisms.

The Salifert Phosphate Profi Test uses a liquid PO4-1 reagent and powdered PO4-2 reagent to produce a colour proportional to the phosphate concentration. The developed colour is compared from above with the included chart.

Directions

1. Rinse the test vial with the water to be tested.
2. Add 10 ml of the water sample.
3. Add four drops of PO4-1 reagent.
4. Swirl gently for ten seconds.
5. Add one level scoop of PO4-2 powder.
6. Swirl gently for 30 seconds.
7. Place the open vial on the white section of the colour chart.
8. Compare the colour from above in neutral diffuse light.
9. Read the corresponding phosphate concentration.
10. Estimate intermediate colours between the nearest chart values.
11. Rinse all test equipment after use.

For higher sensitivity, use 20 ml of water, eight drops of PO4-1 and two level scoops of PO4-2. Divide the colour-chart result by two.
