Salifert Boron Profi Test is a colour-comparison drop test for measuring boron in marine and reef aquariums. It covers approximately 0.5–40 mg/l, with a standard resolution of 0.5 mg/l. Natural seawater typically contains approximately 4.4 mg/l boron. The kit provides up to approximately 25 tests and is intended for marine water with a pH between 7.9 and 8.5.
The test uses two parallel water samples. One acts as a colour reference, while B-2 and B-3 reagents are added to the second sample. B-3 is added drop by drop until the treated sample matches the reference.
Each B-3 drop added during the standard procedure corresponds to 0.5 mg/l boron. A separate reduced-sample procedure allows concentrations above 20 mg/l to be measured, with each drop then corresponding to 1 mg/l.

Directions
- Wait at least 24 hours after the most recent boron addition.
- Confirm that the sample pH is between 7.9 and 8.5.
- Place two empty test vials side by side on a white background.
- Add 8 ml of aquarium water to the left-hand vial.

- Transfer 4 ml of the coloured sample to the right-hand vial.
- Keep the left-hand vial as the colour reference.
