Salifert Oxygen profi test

Dissolved oxygen is essential for fish, corals, invertebrates and the microorganisms responsible for biological filtration. Its concentration may fall because of high temperature, excessive feeding, organic decomposition, bacterial blooms, equipment failure or inadequate surface movement.

The Salifert Oxygen Profi Test uses three reagents to produce a colour proportional to the dissolved-oxygen concentration. The result is read from above against the included chart.

Directions

1. Add 5 ml of water to the test vial.
2. Add five drops of O2-1.
3. Swirl gently for 20 seconds.
4. Do not shake, as this may alter the oxygen content.
5. Add six drops of O2-2.
6. Swirl gently for 15 seconds.
7. Allow marine water to stand for five minutes.
8. Allow freshwater or pond water to stand for one minute.
9. Add six drops of O2-3.
10. Swirl gently for 20 seconds.
11. Allow the colour to develop for 30 seconds.
12. Place the vial on the white section of the chart.
13. Compare the colour from above.
14. Read the dissolved-oxygen result in mg/l.
15. Rinse the test equipment after use.
