Salifert Kalium/Potassium profi test

The Salifert Potassium Profi Test enables reef aquarists to monitor potassium before adjusting supplementation. A measured seawater sample is treated with K-1 and K-2 reagents, followed by K-3 reagent one drop at a time.

When the sample changes from white or yellowish to light blue, the number of K-3 drops is compared with the included chart to determine the potassium concentration. Natural seawater is generally reported at approximately 400 mg/l potassium.

• Instructions

Directions

1. Clean the K-3 bottle nozzle and tip with a paper tissue.
2. Do not replace the K-3 cap until the test is complete.
3. Add 1 ml of aquarium water with the unlabelled syringe.
4. Add 0.5 ml of K-1 using the red-labelled syringe.
5. Swirl gently for at least 20 seconds.
6. Add three drops of K-2 while holding the bottle vertically.
7. Add K-3 one drop at a time.
8. Swirl the vial for approximately two seconds between drops.
9. Count every K-3 drop carefully.
10. Stop when the sample changes from white or yellowish to baby blue.
11. Compare the number of drops with the included potassium chart.
12. Clean the test equipment thoroughly after use.
