Salifert Iodine profi test

Iodine occurs in seawater as several chemical species. A test that detects only iodide may report an artificially low result because iodide can be converted to iodate within the aquarium. Salifert Iodine Profi Test addresses this by using separate procedures for iodide and for iodate together with other naturally occurring iodine forms.

Iodide-test directions

1. Rinse the test vial with aquarium water.
2. Add 2 ml of the water sample.
3. Add six drops of I2-3 reagent.
4. Swirl gently for two to three seconds after each drop.
5. Do not add I2-2 during the iodide procedure.
6. Wait exactly four minutes.
7. Hold the vial firmly against the white section of the iodide chart.
8. Look through the opposite side of the vial.
9. Compare the colour in diffuse daylight.
10. Read the result at exactly four minutes, as the colour may continue to darken afterward.
