GHL ProfiLux 4 adapter for power cut monitoring

The GHL ProfiLux 4 Adapter for Power Cut Monitoring adds mains-failure detection to a compatible ProfiLux 4 system. The adapter monitors the normal electrical supply and sends a power-loss signal to the controller.

When a failure is detected, ProfiLux can automatically activate a selected maintenance program. This program determines which devices are stopped, which remain operating, and how compatible variable-speed equipment behaves during backup operation.

The adapter is not a battery, UPS, or backup power supply. Its function is to notify the controller that normal mains power has failed.

Energy-saving emergency operation

A power-cut program can be configured to:

• Switch off aquarium lighting
• Stop heating or cooling equipment
• Stop the protein skimmer
• Disable dosing pumps
• Suspend automatic top-off
• Suspend automatic water changes
• Reduce controllable pump output
• Keep essential circulation operating
• Activate backup aeration
• Trigger an alarm or notification

Switching off non-essential loads can significantly extend the operating time available from a UPS.

Compatibility

The adapter is designed for the LineMon input of compatible ProfiLux 4 controllers. It is not intended for sensor, PAB, switch-channel, or 1–10 V connections.

Installation

1. Connect ProfiLux and essential aquarium equipment to a UPS.
2. Connect the monitoring adapter to a normal non-UPS outlet.
3. Connect its signal cable to the ProfiLux LineMon input.
4. Configure the power-cut maintenance program.
5. Choose which devices remain active.
6. Configure delayed restart where required.
7. Test the system by disconnecting only the monitoring adapter.
8. Confirm that ProfiLux remains active on UPS power.
9. Confirm that the correct maintenance program starts.
10. Confirm normal operation after mains power returns.
