Salifert Nitrate profi NO3 test

The Salifert Nitrate Profi Test uses two powdered reagents to produce a colour reaction proportional to the nitrate concentration. The developed colour is compared with the included chart.

Two reading methods provide a broad working range:

• Low range: 0.2–10 mg/l NO₃
• Medium range: 2–100 mg/l NO₃

The low-range method is particularly useful in reef aquariums, while the medium range is suitable for fish-only marine systems and freshwater aquariums.

Directions

1. Rinse the test vial with the water to be tested.
2. Add 1 ml of aquarium water.
3. Add one level scoop of NO3-1 powder.
4. Add one level scoop of NO3-2 powder.
5. Swirl gently for 30 seconds—do not shake.
6. Allow the sample to stand for three minutes.
7. For the medium range, place the vial on the white section of the chart and compare the colour from above.
8. If the result is below 10 mg/l, read the sample through the side of the vial.
9. Hold the white section of the chart against the opposite side.
10. Divide the side-view chart value by ten.
11. Record the result and rinse the vial and scoop after use.
