GHL ProfiLux 4

GHL ProfiLux 4 is a professional aquarium monitoring and control system designed to combine essential measurements, automation routines, alarms, and equipment control in one expandable platform.

Integrated measurement inputs support temperature, pH, redox potential, and conductivity. Conductivity measurement can be configured for freshwater or marine use, enabling salinity monitoring in saltwater aquariums.

ProfiLux 4 can be connected to GHL Powerbars, dosing pumps, level sensors, leak sensors, flow sensors, lighting systems, and compatible variable-speed pumps.

Measurement and control

ProfiLux continuously monitors aquarium parameters with suitable probes. Target values, control ranges, alarm limits, and automatic reactions can be configured for each measurement.

Supported measurements include:

• Temperature
• pH
• Redox potential
• Freshwater conductivity
• Marine conductivity and salinity

Probe inclusion depends on the selected ProfiLux 4 package or Controller Set.

Heating and cooling

With a compatible GHL Powerbar, ProfiLux 4 can control aquarium heaters, chillers, and cooling fans according to measured temperature.

Independent switching points, hysteresis, alarms, and safety limits can be configured to prevent rapid switching and excessive heating or cooling.

Level control and water changes

Compatible level sensors support automatic top-off, reservoir monitoring, high-water alarms, and automatic water changes.

Redundant sensors can be used to improve safety. Maximum operating times can also stop a fill pump if the expected water level is not reached.

Leak and flow monitoring

Leak sensors can trigger alarms and automatically shut down selected pumps, valves, or water-filling equipment.

Flow sensors can monitor return lines, filtration circuits, and reactor feeds. Reduced flow can indicate a blocked pipe, dirty filter, weakened pump, or malfunctioning valve.

Lighting and pump control

ProfiLux 4 supports compatible lighting systems and 1–10 V-controlled devices. Available functions can include sunrise, sunset, moon phases, clouds, thunderstorms, acclimation, and temperature-dependent dimming.

Compatible pumps can be programmed for varying flow, wave patterns, night reduction, feeding pauses, maintenance modes, and automatic safety shutdown.

Dosing-pump integration

GHL Doser units can dose calcium, alkalinity, magnesium, trace elements, coral foods, amino acids, fertilizers, and other liquid supplements.

Daily quantities can be divided into multiple small doses to improve aquarium stability.

Remote access and alarms

Built-in WiFi, the local webserver, GHL Connect, and myGHL allow local and remote aquarium monitoring.

Configurable alarms can report abnormal temperature, pH, redox, conductivity, water level, leakage, flow, and sensor operation.

Installation and setup

1. Install ProfiLux 4 in a dry, splash-protected location.
2. Provide ventilation and maintenance clearance.
3. Connect only compatible GHL probes and accessories.
4. Position probes in evenly circulating water.
5. Keep probes away from dosing outlets and air bubbles.
6. Calibrate pH, redox, and conductivity probes.
7. Connect the Powerbar and additional PAB devices.
8. Configure heaters, cooling equipment, pumps, and other devices.
9. Set target values, hysteresis, and alarm limits.
10. Configure feeding and maintenance modes.
11. Connect ProfiLux to WiFi.
12. Configure GHL Connect and myGHL when required.
13. Test every control function and alarm.
14. Verify safety sensors and maximum pump operating times.
15. Back up the configuration after setup.
