Salifert Copper Cu Profi Test is a sensitive colour-comparison test for dissolved and weakly chelated copper in marine and freshwater aquariums, ponds and tap water. It covers approximately 0.05–2.0 mg/l Cu and provides around 50 tests. The kit is particularly useful for monitoring copper medication in a separate quarantine or treatment aquarium and investigating possible copper contamination. The sample pH should be approximately 7.5–9.0.
The Salifert Copper Profi Test measures dissolved and weakly chelated copper, including copper lightly bound to compounds such as citric acid. A Cu reagent is added to a measured water sample, and the developed colour is compared with the supplied chart.
Copper medication should be used only in a suitable treatment aquarium. Copper can be highly harmful to corals, anemones, snails, shrimp, crabs, echinoderms and other invertebrates.
